The MT5 Candle Timer Indicator is a simple on chart indicator that helps you to identify when a new bar is going to form. This indicator has a Candlestick Timer that continuously check the time elapsed since the start of a candle and the remaining time before this closes.

Can someone please give me a rational reason why the several candle expiry timers I have tried on my charts cannot or do not actually count down in even seconds, minutes, etc. You know... 35 to 34 to 33 etc...
Surely they are just timers that should run down evenly to candle end as each candle is supposed to run for a fixed time as chosen on a chart.
Why do the ones I have tried show jumpy count down times with a jump from 45secs to say 39secs in one go. To me it's a baffling and ridiculous situation when I need an accurate and even countdown for one reason or another.
I expect the answer I will get is based on the erratic movement of candles as they reflect the jumpy and uneven moving price action.
But I think a candle countdown timer should be on a separate but related to candle opening and closing only even timer system. My computer timer counts down in even and regular hours/minutes and seconds.
Thanks for your enlightenment.
Cheers, Larney

Because the indicators probably only change when there's tick activity which doesn't necessarily imply that price changes every second. The countdown time you see on the chart is just a snapshot of time remaining on last price update.
When the price updates again, the snapshot changes.
Personally I don't find this annoying. I just circumvent this by getting any third party Desktop time widget.

I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm not in the 'convincing' business.

MT4 does not have event handling so it cannot do things like counting down a timer. Apparently MT5 has this capabilty, but I have not tested it. Every MT4 timer should come with a disclaimer. Don't understand coders who write code that way.
The best thing is to use a third party, timer.

Sorry but I have to disagree. I have coded MT4 timers for my clients with a 1s count down without waiting for a tick for update. The best thing is to use a third party, timer.

Oh, I think I understand. You make the indicator tick-independent using a loop which calculates the time every 1000 milliseconds.
Or you make it tick-independent using the windows api which creates a fake tick every 1000 milliseconds.
Maybe there are other tricks, but I don´t know them.

The easiest way to make something tick-independent is ... a loop in a script. You make the indicator tick-independent using a loop which calculates the time every 1000 milliseconds.
